At Cameron University, students age 21 or
older and active duty military personnel take
the ACCUPLACER computerized placement
tests (CPT) as part of the admission process.
The scores from these tests determine the
appropriate courses in English, mathematics,
and reading based on your academic skill
level.
To start in a college class that is too easy, or
too hard, will only lead to frustration.

specific mathematics questions.

test figuring out the setup and what they’re
looking for.
By doing the sample questions, you may
identify weak areas, allowing you to review
those areas in advance.

Time spent reviewing and studying practice
questions may ensure a positive outcome in
testing results.
Successful placement testing can save you
time and money by showing that you are
ready for college level classes and allowing
you to bypass developmental classes.

It is to your advantage to take the correct
courses on your path to a college degree.
Those courses are determined by Placement
Testing.
If your test results indicate that you need
developmental classes, these courses are
designed to make you successful in your
college career. If you need them, it is time
and money well spent.

The retest in math and reading is the
computerized test. You must wait 30 days to
retest and you may only retest one time.
To retest in English, you will be given 45
minutes to handwrite a well-constructed
essay from a choice of two everyday topics.
◦ The essay will be scored by faculty from our
English department.
◦ You do not have to wait 30 days to retest in English.
