For Immediate Release – Lawton, OK, June 20, 2006 Dorris attends special Phi Kappa Phi workshop Cheryl Anne Dorris, Ed.D., represented Cameron University during a special meeting/workshop of The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi. Dorris, who is president of Cameron’s Phi Kappa Phi chapter, was one of 20 chapter presidents from across the country invited to attend the Partnering For Success workshop, held recently in St. Louis, Mo. The workshop featured advanced skill development in enhancing chapter communications, recruiting and involving faculty/professional staff, insuring chapter officer continuity and increasing member participation. The two-day session was the third in a series of five major training workshops scheduled for 2006 across the country. “The workshop was a great opportunity to share ideas and to learn proven strategies for making a Phi Kappa Phi chapter stronger,” said Dorris, who is also the director of pre-college TRIO programs. “Cameron has an excellent chapter, and I believe the knowledge I learned will make it even better.” The 20 workshop attendees were provided financial support by Phi Kappa Phi Headquarters to attend the workshop. "We were excited to have Cameron University represented at such an important chapter officer meeting," said Nancy Blattner, Ph.D., Phi Kappa Phi Board of Directors Regent. "The workshop provided an excellent opportunity for attendees to meet other Phi Kappa Phi chapter officers, to share success stories and to strategize about how to address challenges they experience in their chapters."
