CU Health and Physical Education department
selects its five outstanding majors for 2005-06
The Cameron University Department of Health and Physical Education named Carolina Vera-Vera of
Suriname, its Outstanding Major of the Year for 2005-2006.
“Ms. Vera-Vera not only meets the department requirements for this award in terms of academics and
department involvement,” said department Chair Joe Jones, “she goes beyond what is required. She
continually strives to seek out additional information and apply it to everyday life.”
Vera-Vera was selected from a group of five outstanding majors chosen earlier in the semester. Rounding
out the top five outstanding majors are: Jennifer Morse from Greeley, Colo., and Ernie Altic, Randi
Harrison, and Jeff Luffman, all from Lawton
The CU health and physical education department selected its outstanding majors based on academic
performance, citizenship and character, leadership, and participation in campus, community and
professional activities.
The honorees will have their pictures displayed in the department’s foyer. Vera-Vera will also receive a
certificate recognizing her achievement from the National Association of Sports and Physical Education.
