For Immediate Release – Lawton, OK, Nov. 11, 2005 Cameron’s beef cattle improvement conference will feature renowned local, national speakers The Cameron University Department of Agriculture’s 19th Annual Beef Cattle Improvement Conference will take place at 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 17, at the Animal Science Arena, located at CU’s Agriculture Complex at 901 38th Street half way between Gore and Lee Boulevards. The event is free and open to the public. The conference will kick off with a free meal for all attendees. Organized by the Cameron agriculture department’s faculty and staff, the conference usually draws 200 participants from around the state. The event is sponsored by the Cameron University Joseph H. Mullin Endowed Chair, Comanche County Cooperative Extension Service, Comanche County Cattleman’s Association and numerous SW Oklahoma businesses associated with the beef industry. This year’s program will include four local and regional speakers. The leadoff speaker will be Frankie White, Ph.D., an assistant professor of animal science at Cameron. Bob Welling, who will travel from his Montana home to speak, will be the second speaker and is an expert on the use of range blocks in improving grazing distribution. Fred Schmidt is a nationally recognized agricultural economist from the Noble Foundation and will talk about the US beef industry and how it is impacted by global events. (over) Conference, ADD ONE The final speaker is Bill Phillips, who is from the USDA/ARS Grazing Lands Research Center in El Reno.
