Cameron University’s ‘India Night’ offered
visitors chance to experience Indian culture
More than 200 people visited Cameron University recently to enjoy the sights, sounds and taste of the
second annual “India Night.”
“It was another sell out this year,” said T.K. Bhattacharya, Ph.D., professor in CU School of Business and
the evening’s coordinator. “The evening was a great success for all. I believe those who attended truly
experienced the richness and beauty of the Indian culture.”
Funded by the Ajay and Shireen Bhargava endowed lectureship, along with the Cameron University
Lectures and Concerts series, the evening included traditional Indian music and cuisine. The meal was
catered by Ajanta Restaurant in Oklahoma City and featured such dishes as noor mahal biryani and
chicken tikka masala.
The musical program was performed by Indian Classical Music Circle FROM Dallas, featuring Mihir Patel
on violin, Vatsal Dave on sitar; Nilendu Jani on flute, and Neil Bhatt on tabla.
Dr. R. Murali Krishna delivered the keynote address. Krishna is President, Chief Operating Officer and
Medical Director of INTEGRIS Mental Health, a division of INTEGRIS Health, the state’s largest mental
health provider. He is also co-founder and President of the James L. Hall, Jr. Center for Mind, Body, and
Spirit, an affiliate of INTEGRIS Mental Health.

Entitled "From Ancient Wisdom to Modern Science of Mind Body Medicine," Krishna spoke on the healing
power of the connection between mind and body, a topic that translates well to this year’s Festival VI: CU in
Good Health.
At the conclusion of the festivities, Bhattacharya said he was overwhelmingly pleased with the all aspects
of the evening.
“I want thank everyone who made this year's event a grand success and I hope we can do a repeat
performance next year and every year after,” Bhattacharya said.
