For Immediate Release – Lawton, OK, Aug. 12, 2005 Cameron University waives tuition cost for eligible, concurrently enrolled seniors Cameron University is pleased to announce eligible high school seniors concurrently enrolled at Cameron will receive a tuition waiver for up to six hours. The tuition waivers are available beginning this fall. “This is an excellent opportunity for high school seniors wanting to get a jump on their college careers,” said Vice President for Student Services Larry Kruse. “We believe that this new provision will allow good students to acquire college credit hours while at the same time allowing them full participation in very important high school experiences.” To be eligible for the tuition waiver, seniors must meet admission criteria set by the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education. Seniors need a minimum composite score of 20 on the ACT (or comparable SAT score) or a cumulative GPA of 3.0 and a ranking in the top half of their graduating class to receive the waiver. Once seniors become eligible for the tuition waiver, they must follow a few guidelines. Seniors may not enroll in more than 19 semester hours of combined college and high school course work (one high school course is considered 3 semester hours of college work). Students must be able to complete all high school graduation requirements by the end of the Spring semester of their senior year, including all courses required for college entrance. (over) tuition waiver, ADD ONE Students who want to enroll in areas of study such as English, math or science, need to achieve a minimum ACT score of 19 on the corresponding subtest. An ACT score of 19 must also be achieved on the reading subtest to enroll in any other subject (i.e. history, psychology, humanities, and speech). As in the past, students are responsible for paying their own fees, class materials and books.
