For Immediate Release – Lawton, OK, Aug. 10, 2004 Nine Cameron grads commissioned as officers Nine cadets in Cameron University’s Department of Military Science were commissioned as second lieutenants in the U.S. Army in a recent ceremony after completing the Reserve Officer Training Corps program and receiving bachelor’s degrees from the Lawton university. Those commissioned as second lieutenants are: -- Jisun Lim of Acworth, Ga., with a bachelor’s degree in chemistry. Lim is the daughter of Un Kyong Kim of Acworth and is a 1992 graduate of North Cobb High School. -- Chad Young of Altoona, Pa., with a Bachelor of Science degree. Young is the son of Timothy and Dionia Young of Altoona and is a 1994 graduate of Altoona Area High School. -- Anita Sodhi of Apache, with a bachelor’s degree in chemistry with minors in biology and military science. As a CU student, Sodhi was actively involved in the chemistry club, represented the campus chapter of the American Chemical Society in the CU Student Government Association, and was a member of Scabbard and Blade Society. Two years in a row, she held an internship as a research chemist at Halliburton Energy Services through a grant from the Oklahoma Center for Advancement in Science and Technology. She is the daughter of Jag and Lynda Sodhi of Apache. Sodhi is a 2000 graduate of Fort Cobb-Broxton High School. -- Kimberly Cowlin of Childersburg, Ala., with a Bachelor of Science degree. She is the daughter of James and Sherry Cowlin and a 1995 graduate of Childersburg High. (over) commissioned, ADD ONE -- Glandis Hillmon of Columbus, Ga., with a bachelor’s degree in business administration. Hillmon is the daughter of J.B. Culpepper of Box Springs, Ga., and Mary Culpepper of Columbus, Ga. Hillmon is a 1994 graduate of Columbus High School and earned an associate degree in general studies from Central Texas College in 2002. -- Jacob Prater of Colville, Wash., with a Bachelor of Arts degree. He is the son of Susan Thuillard of Evans, Wash., and a 1997 graduate of Colville High School. -- Melinda Wallace of Port Orange, Fla., with a Bachelor of Science degree. She is the daughter of Brenda Irvine of Satellite Beach, Fla., and William Irvine of Lake Helen, Fla. While at CU, she was a member of the Scabbard and Blade Society and the CU Agriculture Club. Wallace is a 1992 graduate of Spruce Creek High School in Port Orange. -- Jeffrey Wilson of Lawton, with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree. He is the son of William and Susan Wilson of Lawton and a 1998 Lawton Eisenhower graduate. -- Michael Monaghan of Saginaw, Mich., with a bachelor’s degree in business administration. The son of Larry and Carol Monaghan of Saginaw, he was president of the CU Sociology Club and is an Alpha Kappa Delta member. Monaghan is a 1996 graduate of Swan Valley High School in Saginaw and received his associate degree from CU in 2000.
