For Immediate Release – Lawton, OK, Jan. 26, 2004 Noted race-relations author to lecture at Cameron University on hate group Daryl Davis, author of Klan-Destine Relationships: A Black Man’s Odyssey in the Klu Klux Klan, is set to visit Cameron University for a special lecture at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 3. During the lecture and discussion in Shepler Mezzanine, Davis will share stories and anecdotes from his encounters with one of America’s most notorious hate groups. Davis spent more than 10 years exploring the nature of racism and the KKK. He set up surprise meetings with Klan leaders who were unaware of his skin color. Through his travels, Davis eventually became the recipient of robes and hoods given to him by Klan members who rescinded their beliefs. Davis and his book have been featured on CNN, CNBC, “Good Morning America,” National Public Radio and other news programs around the country.
