Unit Council Meeting
December 10, 2014
Attendance: Tobin Addington, Marta Bautis, Mack Brandon, Rachel Budin, Peter Campbell,
Seth Cluett, Gilad Cohen, Meredith Davis, Yolanda del Amo, Marc Gidal, Hilary Goldstein, Pat Keeton,
Ann LePore, Rebecca Leung, Lisa Lutter, Edna Negron, David Oh, Neel Scott, Ruma Sen,
Beba Shamash, Jackie Skrzynski, Sarah Stackhouse, Maria Vail, Warner Wada.
Dean’s Announcements:
-Scholarship selections are due to Institutional Advancement by Friday, Dec. 19; nominees will be identified and
rewarded at the scholarship dinner.
-Summer high school programs have been successful in the past and will continue to run.
A choral and instrumented band camp are proposed for Summer 2014, as well as last year’s game design program.
-President’s Advisory Council met and discussed establishing a core set of values. Any suggestions by the faculty
should be sent to the Dean or faculty representative Ben Neill.
Personnel Items:
-Promotion applications are due to the CA office by Jan. 5th; initial committee review by Jan. 7th; the full
review is on Jan. 23rd.
-The 2nd and 3rd year Reappointment applications are due on Jan. 6th; initial committee review by Jan. 9th.
Committee Reports:
- AFT: Rachel Budin—Provost announced small negotiations with AFT
Class schedule is not an AFT prerogative
- Study Abroad Committee: Marc Gidal—Ben Levy is mapping programs for study abroad;
programs to include film, global communications, and music.
- Curriculum Committee: Yolanda del Amo—Requested the core 2014 list from the Registrar.
- IEC: Neel Scott—No updates to report.
- DAC: Edna Negron—Spoke of the social media backlash following the last two student
events on campus; Women’s Center and the Counseling Center are putting together
workshops to discuss issues such as gender, race, and sexual identity.
- WAC: Tobin Addington—Announced his leave of absence next year and the need for his
replacement on the committee; gave brief overview of the duties for the position on the
committee.
