When people reply to an email, Gmail groups responses together in a single conversation with the newest message on top. A conversation breaks off into a new thread if the subject line changes or the conversation reaches more than 100 messages. ​

­ Archiving messages removes them from your inbox and moves them to All Mail on the left column. You can search to retrieve archived messages or browse through the All Mail. Labels​
­ ​
You can create and use labels to organize your email messages into categories. They work like folders, but you can add more than one to a message or delete labels you don’t want. Labels are color coded and help you filter your mail based on customized categories. ​

You can manage your incoming mail using Gmail’s filters to send email to a label, or archive, delete, star, or automatically forward your mail. Create rules to filter your from a search (​

­ Gmail notifications let you know when you have a new email. You'll see a pop­up when a new message arrives so you can keep track of your mail even when you’re not looking at Gmail. ​
