some questions and issues relevant to the ARC

5. Meeting with President Mercer and Provost Barnett
a. Shared governance (reported by Professors Ken McMurdy and Donna
Crawley on behalf of the FAEC Shared Governance Subcommittee). Two
things to discuss: (1) on the shared-governance report; and (2) on the
general state of shared governance in the College
b. President Mercer discussed and commented on three issues: (1) inherent
managerial rights/prerogatives; (2) domain of the AFT; and (3) the
practicality of developing procedures to meet all unforeseen circumstances
c. Provost Barnett discussed and commented on the definition of sharedgovernance
d. Discussed appropriate communication, behaviors, and shared expectations
between the administration and faculty members
e. Professors Ken McMurdy and Donna Crawley will revise the sharedgovernance report based on the comments and suggestions.
