Annual Assessment Report for 2007-2008
Primary Contact: Dr. Kenneth Burbank/Dr. George DeSain
Student Learning Outcomes
Assessed in 2007-08
Outcome: Analyze and interpret
experimental data and apply it in a
practical manner in the design and
development of electrical and
computer systems. Five performance
criteria (sub-outcomes) were assessed
in determining level of achievement
of the learning outcome.
Methods of Assessment
Performance exams.
Laboratory experiment.
Senior design project.
Electronic circuit construction.
Analyze/interpret laboratory data.
Design projects.
Results of Assessment
Implementation Plan
Two fundamental skills appear to
need improvement: 1) breadboarding
- electronic circuit construction and 2)
troubleshooting – determining why an
electronic circuit is not operating
properly.
Faculty discussion in May reviewed
assessment data and results; early in
Fall 2008 semester, another
discussion will take place to
determine the nature of intervention
activities targeted to improving these
skills.

Student Learning Outcomes
Assessed in 2007-08
Outcome: Conduct laboratory
experiments with applications to
electrical engineering problems.
Four performance criteria (suboutcomes) were assessed in
determining level of achievement of
the learning outcome.
Methods of Assessment
Build and test electronic circuits.
Data presentation in lab reports.
Review math and software
applications in lab reports.
Proper measurement techniques.
Results of Assessment
At the senior level, skills in circuit
design and fabrication could be
improved.
