Selective Service Registration
Male students, age 18 through 25, who have not registered with Selective Service or have not verified with MTSU
their registration with Selective Service have a registration hold placed on their records and will not be allowed to
register until the conditions for the hold have been satisfied.
According to Federal Law, you must register with the Selective Service System to attend a public university in the
State of Tennessee. If you have not registered with the Selective Service System or you want to check and see if
you have registered, you can go to their Web site at www.sss.gov.
Once you have registered with the Selective Service System, print the Selective Service Verification form below
or obtain a copy from the Veterans and Military Family Center.
Once completed, you can either mail it to:

or fax it to (615) 898-2082,
or you can bring it to the Veterans Veterans and Military Family Center, Keathley University Center (KUC) 124, between
the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Once we have your completed form, we will then be able to remove your hold so that you may register for the
upcoming semester. Please respond quickly so your registration process is not delayed. If you have any questions

Verification Form for Those Who Have
Already Registered for the Military Draft
Effective May 2, 1984, the Tennessee Legislature enacted Public Chapter No. 759 (TCA 49-7-114) which requires
that no male U.S. citizen born in 1960 or thereafter be allowed to enroll in any state post-secondary school unless
he has registered with the Selective Service System for the military draft. Please check the appropriate statement
and sign.
