1. Find four lines (none of which are either horizontal or vertical) such that each
line only intersects two other lines and all the intersections are right angles.
2. Bob plans to fence o a rectangular eld along the bank of a river; no fence is
needed along the river. If fencing costs $1 per foot on each of the ends, $1.50
for each foot on the side parallel to the river, and she has $1000 dollars with
which to build the fence. What are the dimensions of the largest eld Bob can
build.
3. Find all solutions to the following system of equations
2x + 3y + u v = 6
2x + 5y u + v = 10
x + 6u v = 7
y + 2v = 20
4. Say that you have a quadradic function of the form F (x) = ax2 + bx + c where
a 6= 0. If F (1) = 2, F ( 1) = 6, and F (0) = 7 nd the function F (x), nd the
vertex of the parabola, and nd its minimum or maximum value.
5. Find a piecewise function whose graph looks like . What other capitol letters
of the alphabet could be graphed by piecewise functions? (Hint: Think vertical
line test)
