2007 Georgia Fruits & Nuts Report Introduction
The Center for Agribusiness and Economic Development has published
the Georgia Farm Gate Value Report annually since 1999. As the depth and
breadth of the survey has continued to grow, it has become evident that in order
to properly value fruits and nuts grown in the State of Georgia, it is necessary to
collect more in-depth information. Due to space restraints this detailed
information cannot be published in the main annual publication.
The 2007 Georgia Farm Gate Fruits & Nuts Report highlights uses for
which the fruit and nut commodities are grown. For instance, blueberries are
grown for fresh or frozen use and are offered to the public as U-Pick, often
commanding different prices and yields for each use. This report will detail the
various acreage, yields, prices and values by county. The collected data is used
extensively by Cooperative Extension as well as by agencies and companies that
support the fruit and nut commodities in Georgia.
