NOTES:
1) Entrance audition required for acceptance to the major.
2) Music Education students are encouraged to enroll in EDUC 419 and 420 as undergraduates since they are prerequisites for the
Puget Sound MAT program. These courses will count toward the Upper Division Level Requirement. Graduates will achieve
Washington State teacher certification by completing the Master of Arts in Teaching degree.
3) Only courses in which a C- or better is earned will count toward the major. Only courses in which a C or better is earned will
fulfill Washington State teacher requirements.
4) Music majors must maintain membership and registration for credit in the music ensemble appropriate to their primary instrument
every semester they are in residence.
5) To advance to the junior year, a student must have a 2.3 overall grade point average, a 2.5 music grade point average, and
demonstrate excellence in the jury of their major performance instrument in the Spring jury of the sophomore year.
6) Music majors must register for Recital Attendance every semester they are in residence.
7) MUS 230 satisfies the Fine Arts Approaches core.
8) Keyboard or other instrumental majors enrolled in this track are required to take four semesters of applied voice.
9) Students wishing to study abroad are encouraged to do so in the Spring semester of their junior year.
