Dear Puget Sound Faculty, Staff, Students, and Visitors:
We are pleased to provide you with this third edition of the Access Guide for
Persons with Disabilities.
When planning activities and events such as meetings, classes, seminars,
social events, conferences or guest lectures, please consult the Access Guide
to be sure that your location is accessible. Section 504 of the Rehabilitation
Act requires “program access,” so planned activities or events must be accessible to interested participants.
Please bring the Access Guide to the attention of others in your area and
keep it in a designated spot for handy reference. If you see information that
needs to be revised or added, we welcome your input and suggestions.
Facilities access is a complicated area of the law, governed by the age of the
building, when alterations are undertaken, and the degree of the alteration.
Puget Sound has a long range remodel plan in place, and physical access is
part of that plan. By cultivating awareness and support, we can continue to
provide and improve on accessibility for individuals with disabilities on our
campus.

Anderson/Langdon Hall- Park in the N. Warner St parking lot and use the accessible entrance on the
west side of the building.
Baker Stadium- Fieldhouse parking lot, south of the stadium.
Collins Memorial Library- Park in the N. Warner St parking lot and use the accessible entrance on the

the Fitness Center.

Sign language interpreting is typically provided for all
major lectures held in this facility. Those using the

in front of the OT/PT building.

The best parking for the Warner Gym in in the Fieldhouse parking lot. Follow the commencement walk
north and enter the building by the accessible entrance

General:
Weyerhaeuser Hall is the health sciences building. It is
home to the OT and PT graduate programs, as well as
undergraduates for exercise science and psychology.
Parking:
Weyerhaeuser has its own parking lot, directly to the
east of the building.
Entrances:
The two main entrances, one on the east side and one
on the west, are both accessible.
Elevators:
Weyerhaeuser has a centrally placed elevator.
Restrooms:
Restrooms are accessible.
Fountains:
Fountains are at two heights, 35 inches and 43 inches.

Building was designed with ‘universal design’ in mind to
make this building maximally available and navigable to
all.
The best parking for Weyerhaeuser is in its own lot, directly east of the building. There are accessible entrances on the east, west and south sides of the building.

Wheelock Student Center
General:
Wheelock Center (also known as “the SUB”) houses
the Information Center; the Servery; Dining Services;
Counseling, Health and Wellness; the Cellar; the
Bookstore; ASUPS; the Dean of Students offices.
Parking:
Parking is available in the adjacent lot.
Entrances:
All public entrances are level. The front door has an
electric opener with paddle controls.
Elevators:
There is a small elevator mid building.
Restrooms:
All restrooms are accessible.
Telephones:
A TDD public pay phone is located in the lobby and in
CHWS (253) 879-3964.
Braille:
All offices have Braille signage.
Other:
A copy machine, an ATM, and a computer with a height
adjustable table are located on the first floor near the
Information Booth.
The best parking for Wheelock Student Center is in the
parking lot directly to the south of the building. There
are accessible entrances on both the north and west
sides of the building.

Wyatt Hall
General:
Wyatt Hall is an academic building with classrooms,
faculty offices, and a lecture hall.
Parking:
Parking is available on Union Avenue and in the
Thompson lot.
Entrances:
The east and west entrances have electronic door
openers with paddle buttons. The east
entrance is wheelchair accessible from the parking lot.
Elevators:
An elevator is located near the restrooms, mid building.
Restrooms:
Wheelchair accessible restrooms are located on each
floor near the elevator.
Fountains:
Fountains are located across from the elevator on each
floor. 35” to the spout.
Braille:
All classrooms, restrooms, and the elevator have Braille
signs.
Other:
The Atrium (lobby area) and rooms 101, 109, and 203
have a built-in infrared sound system that can transmit
to headphones available in the rooms. (Headphones for
the Atrium are stored in the kitchen.)
The best parking for Wyatt is in the Thompson Hall lot.
Go south from the lot and enter the building on either
the east or west side.

Handicap Parking on Campus
Security Services issues general campus parking stickers . They also can
issue placards to students on crutches who need temporary access to
parking close to an academic building. These placards do not entitle students to occupy handicap parking places.
Official Handicap parking placards are provided to eligible drivers by Pierce
County at the Motor Vehicle Licensing Office, 2401 S 35th St, Tacoma, WA
98409-7460. The form for such a placard requires information and a signature from a physician.
