UCL Australia Role Description Lecturer – Level B Purpose A Lecturer is required to carry out research, teaching, knowledge and technology transfer and to contribute to the administration of these within the Department. Main duties and responsibilities a) To deliver high quality teaching at graduate level and other forms of public presentation. b) To act as principal investigator and to lead the development and execution of international quality research programmes. c) To produce publications and other research outputs (including knowledge / technology transfer) in line with personal objectives agreed in the Staff review process. d) To supervise academic work by masters and doctoral students. e) To contribute to the development, planning and implementation of a high quality curriculum. f) To assist in the development of learning materials, preparing schemes of work and maintaining records to monitor student progress, achievement and attendance. g) To participate in departmental and faculty seminars aimed at sharing research outcomes and building interdisciplinary collaboration within and outside the department. h) To participate in the development, administration and marking of exams and other assessments. i) To provide pastoral care and support to students. j) To share in the organisation and management of UCL Australia programmes. k) To contribute to UCL Australia working groups or committees as requested. l) To maintain own continuing professional development. m) To actively follow and promote UCL policies, including Equal Opportunities. n) To maintain an awareness and observation of fire and health and safety regulations. o) To carry out any other duties commensurate with the grade and purpose of the post. Key Requirements PhD in Chemical Engineering or cognate Discipline. Graduate Certificate in Education (Higher Education) Substantial relevant academic or industrial experience since PhD at a level equivalent or similar to Lecturer/Assistant Professor. Research experience will have resulted in publications recognised nationally in terms of originality, significance and rigour, published in high impact factor peer-reviewed scientific journals, conference papers, reports, or professional contributions.
