Trainee Selection Process 2017
• First year Clinical and first year Laboratory
applicants will be assessed, scored and ranked
by the network panels to define the cohorts on
the basis of:
– CV: 20%
– Referee Reports: 10%
– Semi-structured Interview: 70%
• Trainees matched on the basis of the Trainee
and Institution Preferences only.

RCPA only – 5 years after completion of two clinical years
CJCT – 4 years after completion of Basic Physician Training
Training needs to be identified as:
• Core laboratory - 2 years

All training must be supervised and take place in an accrediated
an accredited institution
Registration with two Colleges

• Need to lodge Initial registration with RCPA –
certified copies of all qualifications
• After Initial registration all originals go to

• Pay training fees to both Colleges
Rural Supplementation
• Trainees with Australian citizenship or permanent residence who
are training away from major centres are eligible for
Commonwealth support for some training expenses.
• Rural supplementation is currently offered to Haematology trainees
in Darwin, Hobart, Geelong.
• The funding may be used for travel expenses to attend conferences
and teaching sessions, for textbooks or approved items of
equipment.
• The amount available is related to distance from major teaching
centres.
