STEP-BY-STEP: PI OFFLINE CERTIFICATION
APRIL 24TH, 2015
***YOU MUST HAVE A PI SIGNED AND DATED COPY OF THE CERTIFICATON UPLOADED IN THE PROPOSAL RECORD
IN ORDER TO CERTIFY ON BEHALF OF A PI***
OFFLINE PI CERTIFICATION
In the event that a PI cannot access a computer or would prefer physically signing a form, ePD does have a process for
completing what is referred to as an Offline Certification. This process does require a signed and dated copy of the PI
Certification to be uploaded in the proposal record, with no exception. Please refer to the steps below for completing
this process (the required documents and order of the steps taken are integral for compliance processes). It is
important that the below steps are followed closely. Due to the nature of an electronic system, the proposal can easily
be audited to track timestamps and who certified for the PI.
STEPS FOR OFFLINE CERTIFICATION
1. If the PI does not have access to the elctronic proposal, you will need to first obtain the signature from the PI
on the “Proxy PI Certification” form (Please see the template on the last sheet of this document). The signed
and dated form will need to be uploaded in the system in the ‘Upload Attachments’ section (prior to
completing any other steps).
Select the ‘Upload Attachments’ section in
the left navigation pane.
