Subject: UCPath Schedule Update
Date: February 28, 2013
On February 20, following a joint review of the project timeline by UCPath central and local PMOs, the
UCPath Executive Steering Team agreed to revise the UCPath Wave 1 go live date* to July 2014. (Wave
1 locations include UCLA campus and medical center, ASUCLA, UC Santa Cruz, UC Merced, and UC Office
of the President.)
The timeline review was conducted after the completion of the project design phase in December
2012. The objectives of the review were to ensure that new project discovery was incorporated,
technical and organizational complexities were understood, and that the plan accurately reflected the
time and effort required at the locations to ensure a successful deployment. The review indicated that
additional time is needed for system testing as well as local interface development and business process
redesign. As a result, the PMOs recommended a new go live date of July 2014 for Wave 1 locations and
the UCPath Center.
The implementation approach for Waves 2 and 3 locations is now being reviewed to minimize the
impact of the revised Wave 1 timeline, provide sufficient project support to all locations, and ensure a
high level of service to employees at go live. Recommendations for Waves 2 and 3 go live strategy will
be presented to the UCPath Executive Steering Team in March. By 2015, employees at all campuses and
medical centers will use UCPath.
UCPath is the result of broad collaboration across all campuses and medical centers, demonstrating the
commitment of UC employees to improving administrative efficiency. As each location moves toward
deployment, local employees will be provided with additional detail about the expected changes
through communications and training, as well as relevant information regarding key upcoming project
activities. More information can be found on the UCPath website at
http://ucpath.universityofcalifornia.edu.
*Locations will transition from PPS to UCPath for payroll and HR starting on this date.
