Lee reminded council members to be sure to add the code number to every page, not just the homepage, to fully activate the tracking feature. If a unit needs assistance to do this, please contact Lee or Carla. Proposal for Distribution of CEAP Computers* Lee CEAP needs a plan to manage its technology resources for the next two years since there will not be a refresh this summer; and, it is highly likely that a refresh will not occur next year. A proposal to manage technology resources was discussed with the council. The council recommended the following changes: reflect a high need for faculty who teach distance learning courses and put new student computers into service using the older equipment as back-up/spare parts. The "permission to remove assets from campus" form will be updated to include a print name line. Ken reported there are laptops in the Office of Field Experiences available for check out for use with remote supervision. Currently, about 50% of those computers are in use. There has been success with using Illuminate in distance supervision. Bob Houghton has offered to provide training for faculty on Illuminate at the beginning of the fall semester. Budget issues encourage advancing the use of remote supervision and the laptops. Michael asked Lee to find out the cost to purchase Elluminate software. Dee also reported success with student interns submitting a DVD of their teaching. Computer carts in Blue Ridge and Isothermal will be brought back to campus next week. The computers on the cart in Blue Ridge are obsolete will be sent to surplus. The cart from Isothermal will be placed in Reid for class use. Intern Supervision Travel Reimbursements Ken Ken asked department heads to remind faculty to submit travel reimbursements as soon as possible if a reimbursement has not been submitted for the spring semester. Intern supervisors should submit travel reimbursements on a monthly basis. Ken will let department heads know when his office receives a reimbursement request that reflects longer than a one month time period. Jamaica Accreditation Update Dan Dan reported there is an issue with some graduates of the Jamaican program where their degrees were not being recognized by the Jamaican ministry. Please let faculty know that there are isolated incidents where students are not receiving the right level of pay based on their degree and WCU is addressing the issue. Election Update Mary Ballots have been sent to faculty by email. Ballots are due to Windy Gordon by Friday, May 29th. The council recommended future elections should be held each year in February with results reported to the college in March. This would ensure a higher response rate. Windy is working with IT to hold the election electronically next year. *Handouts-sent electronically Task List Status Report Faculty Load Re: Visiting Intern Is and IIs Department Heads For Information - Please review. 08-09 Debriefing of the Promotion and Tenure Process * Tenure and Reappointment Schedules to Follow * Important Dates May 1, 2009 Graduate Assistantship Paperwork DUE to the Graduate School May 8, 2009 Summer Undergrad & Grad, & Graduate Student Commencement May 9, 2009 Undergraduate Commencement May 8, 2009 Faculty AFEs DUE to Dean May 15, 2009 Department Head AFE Materials DUE May 15, 2009 Annual Assessment Reports DUE to Renee Leadership Council Dates through May 2009: May 1, 2009 May 15, 2009 May 29, 2009 June 12, 2009 The council meeting was adjourned at approximately 10:10 a.m. Submitted by – Mary Rompf Attachments and handouts are on file in the Dean’s office with the Leadership Council minutes.
