Glossary for Frequently Used Terms
Adjunct Faculty (Adjunct): A part-time faculty member who has a semester long contract and no
assurance of continued employment.
Applicant: An individual who submits a complete application and all required documents in WCU’s
online talent management system for the purpose of applying for a job that has been posted.
EHRA: A position type that is exempt from the State Human Resources Act. This position type was
previously titled EPA. It was changed when the State Personnel Act title was updated by the State to
State Human Resources Act.
EHRA Non Faculty: A position type that is exempt from the State Human Resources Act, and does not
include Faculty positions.
Hiring Proposal: A proposed job offer that is subject to approval, consistent with the workflow for the
applicable position type.
Inbox: A location on the PeopleAdmin home page that identifies positions awaiting action by the user.
The inbox list will change depending on the User Role and Module.
Module: A distinct component of the PeopleAdmin online Talent Management system that has related
workflows. The four modules purchased by WCU includes Position Management, Applicant Tracking,
Onboarding, and Performance Management. The Position Management and Applicant Tracking modules
are being implemented in October 2015 and the Onboarding and Performance Management are being
implemented in spring/summer 2016.
PeopleAdmin: The publisher of the online talent management system used by WCU.
Position Description: An electronic document that summarizes a position and identifies the job duties,
minimum and preferred qualifications, and other details. The position description supports all phases of
the talent management cycle.
Position Type: One of five position classifications, including: EHRA Non Faculty, Faculty, SHRA,
Temp/Hourly, and Adjunct Faculty (Adjunct).
Posting (Job Posting): An electronic document that is based on the position description and used to
recruit qualified applicants to fill a vacancy.
SHRA: A position type that is subject to the State Human Resources Act. This position type was
previously titled SPA. It was changed when the State Personnel Act title was updated by the State to
State Human Resources Act.
Single Sign-On: A feature that lets you use your HUB username and password to login to another
system. PeopleAdmin utilizes this feature.
Talent Management: Coordinated processes used by WCU to create and manage positions; recruit,
screen, and select talent, and help new employees be successful.
Temporary: A position type that is not classified as SHRA or EHRA because of the short duration
expected.
User Role: A role that completes designated actions as per the chart below. The Office of Human
Resources and Payroll also has user roles, which are not shown here.
Watchlist: A location on the PeopleAdmin home page that identifies positions selected by a User and
shows their current status, such as workflow state and who has responsibility for it.
Workflow: A series of work steps (activities) that lead to a desired result (e.g. position description,
posting, offer)
