InformationforFaculty:
WesternCarolinaUniversityhasatestingcenterthatisanapprovedasaUNCProctoring
SiteandisamemberofNationalCollegeTestingAssociation.Thecenterchargesaper
hourfeeforallstudentstakinganexamwiththecenter.Inaddition,anystudentcan
utilizeaUNCproctoringsitebycontactingthesiteandfollowingtheprocessonthe
UNC-Proctoringsite.
AllWCUdistanceclassesareloadedintotheUNC-Proctoringsiteatthebeginningof
eachsemester.Facultymayuploadtheirexamsintothesite:

Facultyshouldbepreparedtoenterdatestheexamisavailable,instructionsconcerning
itemsallowedwiththetest(calculator,notes,tables,etc.),andanavailablephone
numberwheresomeonecanbereachediftheproctorhasdifficultywiththeexam.
Ifthestudentisaresidentialstudentandneedsaproctoredexam,thestudentshould
useanapprovedproctorsitelistedontheUNCOnlinesiteoramemberoftheNational

payaproctoringfee.StudentsandWCUfacultywillneedtoworkdirectlywithatest
centertofacilitatetheexam.TheexamcannotbeloadedintotheUNConlinesystem.
ProctorExamRequirement-SyllabusStatement
Inordertoensureacademichonesty,thiscoursemayrequireproctoredexaminations.
Itistheresponsibilityofthestudenttofindanapprovedproctor.Proctorfeesmay
apply.
Aproctorisanapprovedpersoncapableofsupervisingastudenttoensureeducational
integritywhilethestudentiscompletinganexamorassignment.Anappropriate
proctorincludescollegeoruniversitytestingcenters,memberoftheNationalCollege
TestingAssociation,schoolprincipals,superintendents,guidancecounselors,full-time
schoolorpubliclibrarians,embassyofficials,militaryeducationofficers(formilitary
personnelonly),andhospitaleducationdirectors.Aproctormustnotbearelative,
friend,employer,ecclesiasticalleader,orathleticcoach,includingassistantcoach.The
studentmustarrangetohavetheproctorcertified.TestingsitesontheUNC-ONLINE
proctorsiteandNCTAmembersareapprovedsiteswhichdonotrequirefurther
certification.
Studentsareresponsibleforfindingandschedulingaproctor.Failuretotakeproctored
examswillresultinafailinggrade.WesternCarolinaUniversitystudentsmayusethe
UNCproctoringsystemandfindanapprovedproctorat

reasonabledistanceofmoststudents.Thesystemalsoprovidesaccesstoonline
proctoringthoroughProctorU™orothercommercialentityforafee.
Studentsareencouragedtoscheduleaproctoratthebeginningofthecourse,butno
laterthanfourteendayspriortotheexamdate.Ifyoucannotsecureaproctorfrom
existingproctors,youmayinviteaprospectiveproctortoapplyatthesamewebsite.
Onlineproctoringisalsoavailablethroughthesamewebsite.Intheraresituation
whenyoucannotfindaproctorbyanyofthesemethods,youmustcontactthe
instructorforfurtherassistance.Documentationofattemptstosecureaproctorwillbe
required.Studentswhowaittofindaproctorareatgreaterriskofbeingunabletotake
exams.
