All applications require a significant amount of preparation, so start early. Some scholarships and fellowships require you to apply through the College, so please let us know if you are applying. Mia Serban is an Associate Professor of Law & Society at Ramapo College. She has three graduate degrees from two continents (the most recent a PhD from NYU), has won 15 scholarships, fellowships and other awards in her professional career, and has no student debt. Information Sessions Three information sessions will be held in March and April, specific dates to be announced on the website of the Office of Fellowships and Scholarships (OFS), http://www.ramapo.edu/cahill/graduate-school/. Fulbright U.S. Student Program Information Session The Fulbright U.S. Student Program provides research/study grants or English teaching assistant grants for seniors, graduate students, and alumni to promote mutual understanding among 1 nations through educational and cultural exchange. U.S. citizenship required. Applications for the next Fulbright cycle open at the end of March 2016. Graduate School Advisement Information Session If you are thinking about graduate school, this session will address everything from first steps— considering graduate school, important factors, the search process—to putting the finishing touches on your application—writing the personal essay, and asking for letters of recommendation. Scholarships and Fellowships Information Session This is an introduction to the world of national scholarships and fellowships, types of awards by year of study and field, application components, and deadlines. International Development Fellowship Program (funding for graduate school, internships, and professional development activities for students interested in careers in the Foreign Service of the U.S. Agency for International Development) January 19, 2016: Huntington (Samuel) Public Service Award ($15,000 stipend for graduating seniors to pursue one year of meaningful public service anywhere in the world, before student proceeds onto graduate school or a career of public service) January 22, 2016: Barry Goldwater Scholarship (mathematics, natural sciences, engineering) January 22, 2016: Ertegun (Mica and Ahmet) Graduate Scholarship Programme in the Humanities (graduate studies in the humanities at Oxford) January 31, 2016: De Karman (Josephine) Fellowship (for undergraduate students entering their senior year, focus on humanities) February 1, 2016: Amgen Scholars U.S. Program (undergraduate summer research program in science and biotechnology) 2 February 2, 2016: Truman Scholarships (juniors and seniors with an interest in public service) February 5, 2016: The Moore Undergraduate Research Apprentice Program (MURAP) (for individuals from underrepresented minority groups interested in PhD programs in humanities, social sciences and fine arts) February 9, 2016: Boren Scholarships (National Security Education Program, language study) March 2, 2016 (campus deadline February 15): Udall Scholarship (for sophomores and juniors interested in environmental issues) 3
