RAMAPO COLLEGE OF NEW JERSEY Office of Communications and Public Relations Press Release January 11, 2016 Contact: Angela Daidone 201-684-7477 adaidon1@ramapo.edu Ramapo College to Offer Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction Course Free introductory lecture scheduled for Feb.25 MAHWAH, N.J. -- The Krame Center for Contemplative Studies and Mindful Living at Ramapo College is holding a free lecture to introduce its Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction Course on Thursday, February 25 from 7 to 9 p.m. The course is scheduled for Thursday evenings from March 3 through April 28 (no class on March 17) and includes a full-day retreat on Saturday, April 16 from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The course will focus on methods of mindfulness and relaxation training, which were developed at the University of Massachusetts Medical School. Published research has shown that this type of training can be an important adjunct in the treatment of a variety of health issues as well as a powerful way of reducing stress and pain while enhancing the ability to concentrate. The free introductory lecture will be held in the Trustees Pavilion at Ramapo College. Registration is required. The course will be taught by Carol Bonilla Bowman, associate professor of education at Ramapo College.
