1. Have you completed the application process and been accepted for admission to Horry
Georgetown Technical College? (This includes receipt of your official high school
transcript, including graduation date, or copy of GED if applicable, and/or receipt of all
official college transcripts).
2. Have no more than 1 unsuccessful (D, F, W, or WF) attempt in a Nursing (RN) course
within the last 2 years (24 months) at HGTC or any other college.
3. Have you met one of the following two admission options:
a. Eligible for BIO 210, ENG 101 and MAT 120 or MAT 110 and taken the Test of
Essential Academic Skills (TEAS) with a minimum score 70 on TEAS-V and at least
a 2.75 GPA for the Nursing core courses completed (minimal grade of C for Nursing
core courses attempted) . Scores are valid for 2 years from date of testing. Students
may retest every 3 months. (BIO and MAT time limits apply).
OR
b. Successfully completed (minimal grade of C) the 9 Nursing core courses (BIO210,
BIO211, BIO225, ENG101, ENG102, MAT110/120, PSY201, SPC205, and
Humanities) with a GPA of at least a 2.75. (BIO211 and BIO225 (5 year time limit)
and MAT (10 year time limit)).
If you answered “NO” to one of the above questions, you do not meet the requirements. You may not submit the
Associate Degree Nursing Admission Application at this time.
Applications for the Associate Degree Nursing program may be completed and turned in to the Admissions Office at any
of the three College Campuses during one of the application periods for January or August classes. Applicants will be
made aware of their acceptance or alternate status approximately 6 weeks after the application due date.
The application periods are:
March 1 – March 31
August 1 – August 31
August Class (Fall Semester at Grand Strand and Georgetown Campuses)
January Class (Spring Semester at Grand Strand Campus)
If applications have the same points awarded, the decision to admit will be based on the date the student was admitted to
the College as a Health Science Certificate or Associate in Science major. No Associate Degree Nursing Admission Form
applications will be kept on file. If you are not admitted and wish to be considered for a future nursing class you must
reapply during the application period.

understand that if I do not submit proof that these requirements have been met, by the last day of drop/add, I will not be permitted to
register for nursing courses and must reapply to the nursing program during the next available application process.

I am aware that due to specific contract requirements by the clinical agencies used for clinical by the Nursing program, background
checks and drug screenings are part of the admission and retention process. The background check and urine drug screening will be
completed once I am admitted into the Program. Applications with specific conviction histories or positive drug screenings may
ultimately not be accepted into the Nursing Program.
