“The Dolores Huerta Labor Institute is continuing to play a vital role within the LA Community College District in strengthening labor education and building relationships between unions and the Community Colleges of Los Angeles. This is an important part of workforce preparation for our students. The LACCD has a large number of undocumented immigrant students, and the UCLA Labor Center has been working with the DHLI to outreach to this population of students with educational events, conferences, and informational resources to serve immigrant students and their communities.” Director,CenterforLaborResearchandEducation
UniversityofCalifornia,LosAngeles
“The DHLI has been invaluable in providing tools, opportunities and resources for teaching labor to my students. Many of my students felt that the labor panels, projects and video presentations were the highlights of the class. They learned the history and many different contributions of labor from each other. The L‐StEP
program is an innovative program that truly exemplifies active learning. I want to incorporate this method into other portions of my curriculum. Thanks DHLI.”

"I learned a great amount of leadership from this specific L‐StEP
event because I had to organize around 50 students. I noticed after I took the lead many students felt empowered to step into different roles they would normally not have. This event not only gave me experience, it gave me contacts with other students that are willing to get involved."
MariaElenaDurazo Secretary‐Treasurer
LACountyFederationofLabor
"I felt proud and privileged to play a role in the education of LACCD's remarkable students. Through its L‐
StEP initiative, DHLI has devised an impressive and dynamic form of collaboration between students, faculty and the Los Angeles labor community. I would like to commend DHLI and LACCD for having the initiative, creativity and vision to educate the future of Los Angeles about our labor movement and its long history of struggle for prosperity and justice."
