Reduction in Force or Discontinuance of Service Calendar
The actions listed below can take place at any date prior to the date indicated, but
cannot be processed if taken after the dates indicated.
Description of Action
1. Recommendation from college president of reduction
In force or discontinuance of service of employee.
2. Completion of preparation of reduction in force or
Discontinuance of service cases by each college
president and his staff with assistance of the
Personnel Services Division and review by the
General Counsel.
3. Chancellor makes recommendation to the Board of
Trustees for the reduction in force or discontinuance
of service of employee. (Legal deadline)
4. Notice to employee of above action with reason (s)

5. Hearing—if requested by the employee concerned.
6. Hearing Officer makes proposed decision to Board of
Trustees. (Legal deadline)
7. Action By Board of Trustees on proposed decision.
8. Notice to employee of action adopted by Board of
