Student Trustee Robinson called the unofficial meeting to order at 9:25 a.m. The following colleges were present: ELAC, LACC, LASC, and LATTC. Absent: LAHC, LAMC, Pierce College, LAVC, and WLAC PUBLIC AGENDA SPEAKERS Mr. Nehasi Lee presented a gift of appreciation to Student Trustee Robinson in recognition of his outstanding student leadership efforts. Ms. Kari Thumlert commended Student Trustee Robinson for his outstanding leadership efforts. She addressed the Committee regarding Administrative Regulation E­22 Eligibility for Associated Student Organization Offices as it relates to the term limit and the unit restriction. 100 DAYS OF ACTION CAMPAIGN PRESENTATION Dr. Yasmin Delahoussaye distributed a document entitled “Send Your message to Sacramento about your Access to Higher Education.” She gave a PowerPoint presentation regarding a website entitled “StudentSpeakout.com” and discussed the document with respect to the Governor’s and legislature’s proposals to increase the enrollment fee, to eliminate or reduce various financial aid assistance programs, and to reduce child care. She discussed the importance of students to contact their local legislators regarding the impact that these actions would have on community college students. ASSOCIATED STUDENT BODY PRESIDENTS’ REPORTS The following individuals reported on issues, activities, and events at their respective campuses: Mr. Donald Johnson, ASO Executive Secretary and Vice President­Elect, LASC; Mr. Jorge Vera, ASO Chief Justice and President­Elect, ELAC; Ms. Linda Tong, ASO Executive Vice President, LACC; and Ms. Nora White, ASO Secretary and Vice President­Elect, LATTC. Mr. Luis Dorado announced that Ms. Lisa Muñoz is the ASO President­Elect for LATTC. DISTRICT ACADEMIC SENATE REPORT No report.

STUDENT SENATE FOR CALIFORNIA COMMUNITY COLLEGES (SSCCC) REGION VII REPORT Ms. Tong indicated that the Board Room will be unavailable to hold the SSCCC Region VII meetings for the next few months. She recommended having one or two colleges host the monthly meetings during this time. ISSUES FOR THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES None. CONSULTATION ITEMS Board Rule 6702 – Grade Symbols and Definitions Student Trustee Robinson indicated that this item has been withdrawn.
Withdrawn. Administrative Regulation E­22 – Eligibility for Associated Student Organization Office A copy of Administrative Regulation E­22 was distributed. Mr. Clerx discussed the recommended revisions. * * * Mr. Gary Colombo distributed a document entitled “District Governance & Functions Handbook.” He discussed the document with respect to District governance roles and responsibilities, Districtwide decision making, District­level planning, Districtwide councils and committees, the District/College relationship, LACCD organizational charts. District Office Service Outcomes, and the Glossary of Terms. He also distributed two documents from the LACCD website—one entitled “LACCD Institutional Effectiveness” and the other entitled “Research & Statistics” and encouraged the students to explore these web pages. He indicated that he will recommend to the new Chancellor that a student representative be appointed to the Strategic Planning Task Force. * * * ACTION ITEMS None. DISCUSSION ITEMS Budget Cuts and Solutions Student Trustee Robinson withdrew this item.
Withdrawn. Student Affairs Committee Districtwide Fundraiser Student Trustee Robinson withdrew this item.
Withdrawn. Student Trustee Election Mr. Clerx indicated that an investigation of the recent Student Trustee election is being conducted in response to a number of complaints that were filed. He proposed that the Committee with the exception of Ms. Tong reconvene as an Election Committee at the conclusion of the Committee meeting in order to discuss possible options and decide how to move forward.
Student Affairs Committee ­ 2 ­ May 28, 2010 I­TAP (Diana Ho) Student Trustee Robinson indicated that Ms. Diana Ho is no longer involved with the I­TAP Program. He withdrew this item.

REPORTS/ANNOUNCEMENTS/DISCUSSION Student Affairs Committee Chair’s Monthly Report Student Trustee Robinson expressed his appreciation to Mr. Clerx and all of the ASO/ASU Presidents for their support during his tenure as Student Trustee. Mr. Clerx expressed his appreciation to Student Trustee Robinson for his outstanding leadership efforts and wished him well in his future endeavors. Resource Table Student Representative – June 16, 2010 (ESC) and June 30, 2010 (LATTC) Ms. Lisa Muñoz indicated that she would serve as the Student Representative at the Resource Table for the Board meeting of June 30, 2010. Student Trustee Robinson indicated that he would work on getting a Student Representative to sit at the Resource Table for the Board meeting of June 16, 2010. SAC OUTSIDE COMMITTEE REPORTS None. NEW BUSINESS None. SUMMARY – NEXT MEETING The next meeting of the Student Affairs Committee is scheduled for Friday, June 25, 2010 at 9 a.m. at the 811 Wilshire Boulevard Building. The deadline for submitting agenda items is June 11, 2010. ADJOURNMENT Student Trustee Robinson adjourned the meeting at 10:25 a.m.
