Learn, Lead, Create, Inspire:
Advocating for Best Practices in
the Classroom
Professional Learning Day
Sponsored by:
Professional Development System Office
After graduating from Marlboro College, Laura did a stint as a
hospital administrator before entering the classroom in 2001.
As a high school social studies teacher, Laura enjoyed learning
with her students through inquiry processes and making their
thinking visible all over the classroom.
Laura has also been an advocate for her profession through
platforms such as NC Social Studies Teacher of the Year,
Brunswick County Teacher of the Year and as a WILMA Woman
to Watch in Education. Today, Laura continues to ask questions
of, advocate for and learn with educators as the professional
development coordinator for Brunswick County Schools.
