Annual Fire Safety Report
 Prepared by Environmental Health & Safety
 Applies to residence halls only
 Requires reporting of building construction,
fire protection systems, drills, regulations and
training, improvements as well as actual fires
 Major accomplishments:
 Revised Health & Safety Inspection protocols to
ensure uniformity and cover highest risks
 Targeted cooking education programs
 Increased fire safety education significantly in
residence halls

2014 Fire Safety Log
 Reflects all fire incidents involving injury, death, or
property damage or flame outside its intended container
 Two reportable fires – both in kitchen areas
 Grease fire, Seahawk Village Building 2
 Plastic container left on stove, University Apartment A
 Cooking alarms accounted for more than 62% of all
nuisance alarms in residential housing.
 Secondary causes were personal grooming-related, such as
shower steam, blow dryers, and hairspray.
