Physiology, pharmacology and medicinal chemistry related to selected bone, joint, and muscle disorders,

Examswillcovermaterial(readings,outsideassignments)notcoveredinclass.
Acceptableexambehavior
o Onlyawritinginstrumentshouldbeatyourdesk.Allbookbagsandotherbagsshouldbeleft
atthefrontoftheroom.
o Cellphonesshouldbeturnedoffandleftwithyourbelongingsinthefrontoftheroom.
o Studentswillnotbeallowedtoleavetheroomtogototherestroomduringtheexam,unless
accompanied by a faculty member of the same sex, provided there is another proctor to
remainintheroom.
o ForexamsgivenusingExamSoft,computersusedfortheexammustremainintheclassroom
untiltheclassperiodisover.
Useofprogrammablecalculatorswillnotbeallowedduringquizzesorexams.
Intheeventthataquestioniseliminatedfromanexamafterithasbeenprinted/downloaded,
the exam will be graded based on the remaining number of questions and adjusted to
representthecorrectnumberofpoints.
o Forexample,ona100-pointexam,ifone2-pointquestioniseliminated,theexamwillnowbe
worth98points,not100points.Nocreditwillbegivenfortheeliminatedquestion.
Studentswishingtochallengeaquestiononthetestmustprovidethecoursecoordinatorswitha
written(emailpreferred)statementthatidentifieswhichquestion(s)is/arebeingchallenged,why
thestudentfeelshisorheranswer(s)is/arecorrect,andreferencesfromrecent(publishedwithin
the last 1-2 years) primary or tertiary literature to support the claim. Problems or issues with
question(s)shouldbefirstdirected,viae-mail,tothefacultymemberwhopresentedthematerial.
The course coordinators should be copied on this communication. In the event that the faculty
memberandthestudentcannotarriveatanacceptableconclusion,thecoursecoordinatorsshould
be contacted regarding the issue. Discussion of a dispute will occur only after a written query is
submitted.Challengesoftestquestionswillonlybeconsideredwithin2weeksofwhenthetestscores
areposted.
Individualtestgradesforthecoursewillbebasedstrictlyuponthesepercentages.Therewillbeno
curvingoradjustmentsofgradesexceptinthecaseofanincorrectquestion.
Undergraduate mid-term grades will be posted on-line for students to view via Banner. Mid-term
gradesindicateastudent’sstatusatmid-semesteronlyanddonotindicatethefinalperformance

Inadditiontoansweringobjectivesasdescribedaboveandreviewingmisseditemreports,first
professionalyearstudentsscoring<70%onanyexamandhavinganoverallexamaverage<70%(excludes
quizzes,assignments,bonus,etc.)willmeetwiththeDirectorofProfessionalAffairs.
Failuretosubmitthisrequiredassignmentwillresultinineligibilitytoremediate.”

Remediationisaprivilegethatmustbeearnedthroughdemonstratedattendanceandactiveparticipation
throughoutthesemesterthatthenon-progressinggradewasearned.Tobeeligibleforremediation,the
studentmusthavedemonstratedregularattendance,completedallassignedworkinthecourseand
utilizedotheracademicresourcessuchastutoringandmeetingswiththeinstructor.
Remediationwillbeofferedtoanystudentearningacourseaverageof≥65%regardlessofthetotal
numberofstudentsfailing.If≥7%oftheenrolledstudentsfailtoearnagradeof“C”orbetterinarequired
course,thenremediationwillbeallowedforanystudentearningafinalnonprogressinggradeof“D”or“F”
forthecourse.Thosewhochooseremediationwillbegivenanincomplete(“I”)untilthetimethat
remediationisfinished.
Studentschoosingremediationmustmakeascoreof≥70%onthetargetedremediationexamtopassand
receiveafinalgradeof“C”inthecourse.Nogradehigherthana“C”canbemadeinthecoursewith
remediation.Ifthestudentmakesagradeof<70%onthetargetedfinal,theiroriginalgradewilltakethe
placeofthe“I”grade.Thestudentcanthenre-enrollinthecourseatthenextofferingifeligiblebased
basedonschoolprogressionpolicies.Ifthisisthestudent’ssecond“F”gradeinthecurriculum,thestudent
willbedismissedfromtheprogram.
Studentswillbeallowedtoremediatewithatargetedremediationexamnomorethanthree(3)timestotal

AttendancePolicy:Classattendanceisregardedasanobligationaswellasaprivilege,andstudents
are expected to know attendance regulations and to attend regularly and punctually at classes in
