Fundraising Raffle to provide scholarships for 2015-2016 The Scholarship Fundraising Committee has been hard at work gathering items for the raffle! As always there will be certificates from local business for dinners, pizzas, haircuts, etc. Many items that have been donated for this year are listed on the CFFLC Wiki. We ask that all members help the committee by bringing baked goods, craft items, books, teaching tools, plants, white elephants, etc. Seek out those unused and long-forgotten treasures in your bookcases and closets! Remember some of the highlights of years past: the much-coveted turtle lamp, the rib eye steaks, the pound cakes and brownies, the heirloom jewelry, the painted chairs, the baby quilt, the ceramics and artwork, the bag of pecans, the nandina bushes, the Eiffel Tower (kit), the lotions and hairspray, the banana pudding in a bag,…oh, I could go on and on! As always, the raffle will be guaranteed to raise the money we need for scholarships while entertaining a loudly laughing crowd! Did I mention to bring lots of spare bills and change – or a check – no credit cards, please. Last chance to pay YEARLY DUES: $20 ($10 for full-time students). Checks should be made to Cape Fear Foreign Language Collaborative. We depend on your dues to help with miscellaneous expenses and with the scholarships. SPONSORSHIP: CFFLC is sponsored by the Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. SCHOLARSHIPS: Our scholarship program continues to be a success. We awarded three scholarships to UNCW students last year and one to a graduating senior in high school for a total of $1100. CFFLC is proud to announce that scholarships awarded since the inception of the program in 1995 to November 2014 total $13, 325. This includes $300 given by Vista Higher Learning in November 2014. All other funds have been raised by the members of CFFLC.
