UNCW Intercultural Festival – February 14, 2015 – Volunteers needed!
Rachel Hatfield has prepared the CFFLC Wiki for each member to view the current
plan for the festival and to sign-up to "donate" time and cultural items in advance

FLANC Spring Conference in February at UNCW – February 21, 2015

The FLANC Spring Conference will be held at UNC Wilmington on Saturday,
February 21, 2015. Carmen Scoggins, winner of the 2014 Best of FLANC Award,
will present the keynote session (“Sustainable Teaching for World Language
Endurance”). In addition, the conference will feature several of the award-winning
presentations from the FLANC 2014 Top Ten list. Sessions will highlight best
practices for the implementation of technology, the teaching of culture, and
engaging students in authentic learning experiences both within and beyond the
classroom. You will not want miss this exciting professional development
opportunity! We look forward to seeing you at UNCW in February!
YEARLY DUES: $20 ($10 for full-time students). Checks should be made to Cape Fear
Foreign Language Collaborative. Dues may be mailed at any time to our treasurer Julie Bordo,
202 Wayne Drive, Wilmington, NC 28403. We depend on your dues to help with miscellaneous
expenses and with the scholarships.
SPONSORSHIP: CFFLC is sponsored by the Department of Foreign Languages and
Literatures at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington.
SCHOLARSHIPS: Our scholarship program continues to be a success. We awarded three
scholarships to UNCW students last year and one to a graduating senior in high school for a total
of $1100. CFFLC is proud to announce that scholarships awarded since the inception of the
program in 1995 to November 2014 total $13, 325. This includes $300 given by Vista Higher
Learning in November 2014. All other funds have been raised by the membership of CFFLC.
