Promise and Potential: Project Terms of Reference Project: Increased Presence of Aboriginal Culture in formal University Ceremonies and University-sponsored events as of December 18, 2012 Description: The project will result in an increased presence of Aboriginal culture in formal ceremonies and University-sponsored events by 2015/16. Commitment Leaders: Lea Pennock, university secretary (and the new University Secretary, once appointed); Russell Isinger, university registrar Expected Outcomes for Project: (1) Increased presence of Aboriginal culture in formal University ceremonies and University-sponsored events by 2015/16. (2) Guidelines for the University community on incorporating Aboriginal culture into formal University ceremonies and University-sponsored events. Committee members: Signa Daum Shanks, College of Law; Keith Carlson, College of Arts and Science (tentative); Omeasoo Butt, graduate student, PhD candidate, and first Aboriginal president of the Graduate Students Association; Jared Brown, undergraduate student and first Aboriginal president of the University of Saskatchewan Students’ Union; Robert (Bob) Badger, Cultural Coordinator, Aboriginal Students’ Centre, Student and Enrolment Services Division. The co-commitment Leaders will also consult and work closely with the other related Aboriginal Commitment Leaders as work progresses in order to realize efficiencies of consultation with key University Aboriginal experts.
