SUPPORTING NEWTON FALLS FINE PAPER CO. LLC
APPLICATION FOR FUNDING
WHEREAS, in 2007 the Newton Falls Fine Paper Co., LLC purchased and reopened the
formerly abandoned paper mill, and now employs over 100 people, and
WHEREAS, the long-term sustainability of the mill is critical to the local economy of the
County and the area, and
WHEREAS, Newton Fall Fine Paper Co., LLC wishes to implement a long-term energy
strategy that would decrease the consumption of fossil fuels, be environmentally friendly and
provide a reliable steam source for the operation of the mill, and
WHEREAS, Newton Falls Fine Paper Co., LLC is applying for funding assistance
through New York State’s Upstate Regional Blueprint Fund, and
WHEREAS, Newton Falls Fine Paper Co., LLC has clearly demonstrated its commitment
to St. Lawrence County, a county that clearly demonstrates overwhelming circumstances of
economic need,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the St. Lawrence County Industrial
Development Agency strongly supports Newton Falls Fine Paper Co., LLC’s application for
funding assistance through New York State’s Upstate Regional Blueprint Fund,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Chief Executive Officer is directed to submit an
application under the Infrastructure Track, as outlined in the Upstate Regional Blueprint Fund
guidelines, if deemed necessary by the New York State Empire State Development Corporation.
