(f)onerepresentativefromeachprofessionalsocietyorotherorganizationdesignatedpursuanttosubsection(3).
24(3)Forthepurposesofclause(1)(f)themembersofthesenatementionedinclauses(1)(b)and(c)maydesignate
professionalsocietiesorotheroganizationsthat,intheopinionofthosemembers:
(a) contributeinasignificantwaytothesocial,economicandculturalwelfareofSaskatchewan;and
(b) haveademonstratedinterestinfurtheringthegoalsofhighereducationandresearchattheuniversity.
24(4)Atleastonceeveryfiveyears,themembersofthesenatementionedinclauses(1)(b)and(c)shall:
(a) reviewthestatusofprofessionalsocietiesorotherorganizationshavingrepresentativesinthesenateto
determinewhethertheyshouldcontinuetosendarepresentativetobeamemberofthesenate;and
(b) considerapplicationsbyprofessionalsocietiesorotherorganizationswishingtohaverepresentativesin
thesenatetodeterminewhethertheyshouldbeallowedtosendarepresentativetobeamemberofthe
senate.
Criteriaformembershipandcontinuedmembership
1. LicensingandprofessionalbodiesforprofessionsthataretaughtattheUniversity,orforprofessions
forwhichtheUniversityprovidespreparatorystudy,shouldbeinvitedtosendarepresentativeto
Senate,ontheadviceoftherelevantdean(s).Ingeneralwherethereisbothanationalorinternation‐
alandaprovincialassociation,theprovincialassociationwillbeinvitedtosendtherepresentative.
2. ThealumniassociationsfortheUniversityofSaskatchewanandtheUniversityofReginawilleachbe
invitedtosendarepresentative.
3. Educationalinstitutionsarenotthemselveseligibleformembershipbutmayberepresentedbyasso‐
ciationssuchastheAssociationofRegionalCollegesortheSaskatchewanSchoolBoardsAssociation.
4. Culturalandbusinessorganizationsmaybeconsideredformembershipiftheymeetthecriteriainthe
actand
a. TheirmembersrepresentasignificantconstituencyofstakeholderswithinSaskatchewan,and
b. Thegoalsandaimsoftheorganizationareconsistentwiththestrategicdirectionsoftheuniversi‐
ty.
5. Anorganizationwhosedelegatemissestwoconsecutivesenatemeetingsorwhosedelegateposition
remainsvacantfortwoconsecutivesenatemeetingswillbenotifiedbythechancellor,withacopyto
thedelegate,thatshouldtheirdelegatemissthenextmeetingfollowing,theirmembershipbere‐
voked.OrganizationsmaydesignateanalternateinaccordancewithBylawXII.3iftheirdelegatewill
beunabletoattendameeting.Anyorganizationwhosemembershipisrevokedmayre‐applyfor
membershipafteroneyear.
