Good morning Murray:
Indigenous peoples worldwide have always believed in sustainable ways of thinking, being, and making decisions. We are always looking for opportuni?es and ini?a?ves that will allow our university students to develop in holis?c ways so there is a balance between human and environment. We are hoping to link this community‐garden concept to our science and health courses so that students are able to make a connec?on between theory and prac?ce.
The opportunity to grow edible plants and healing medicines that are unique to the northern context would be great along with regular vegetables and fruits. We could have a harvest feast in the fall when students come back and donate some of the food back into the community of Laronge. We could ?e this work with Elders and Aboriginal resource people who are giGed in this area. My thoughts for now. Dr. Herman Michell NORTEP
