Approval of the previous minutes “Move to accept the minutes of October 21, 2014” CARRIED Interview Committee “Move to form a sub-­‐committee to review interview questions” CARRIED Discussion: Newsletter • It was discussed that the SENSSA newsletter might be too much work for the group • Instead of the newsletter, we will upload one diversity profile each week on our Facebook page • It was therefore agreed to cancel the newsletter project Ness Creek • This week’s meeting was cancelled th • It was suggested that another member attend the next meeting with Kelly on Nov 4 at 6pm. Krystal will attend this meeting • Reach out to the SENS students to volunteer for this project • This project will be held off for two weeks Diversity Project The diversity engagement is the only core project left on our list of projects There were concerns of the level of student participation in this project Send out the interview to the student body first and determine how to proceed with our projects after their feedback • It is important to have solid ideas of what we want to do as SENSSA and package them in an appealing way so that students want to get involved • Engage SENS department in the diversity project as they might be interested in partnering with us • Social media and international food festival to be included as part of the diversity project Student Interviews • We need to create a platform where we can informally interview students to see which projects they are interested in (winter party or a formal interviews?) • These interviews need to be one-­‐on-­‐one • Each SENSSA member to be in touch with 10 people for the one-­‐on-­‐one interviews • Sub-­‐committees will be formed to work on different projects • Krystal and Kathleen will form a sub-­‐committee to iron out the survey/interview questions • It was suggested to add a social network component to the interview questions • Include a diversity question on the student questionnaire Alumni Relations • Krystal to present this project at the faculty meeting to see what structures are in place to engage the alumni • Possibly paring new students with the alumni (include this question on survey) • Strike this off our agenda City Festival Waste Diversion • There are concerns that this is too large of a project for SENSSA and we should rethink our level of involvement Greening Kirk Hall • Shelf this project until we have more information on whether the building is slotted for demolition • Martin to take lead in getting information on future plans for this building Divestment Campaign • Kathleen and Naomi to keep the team up to date with the progress of the divestment movement on campus Knowledge sharing lunches • Aimee to take the lead on the knowledge sharing lunches when she returns • Collaborate with SERI in organizing this project • • • Winter Party • This will take place in Mid-­‐January • Present tentative results from the student interviews at this party Other Business • SENSSA T-­‐Shirts will be designed and printed • SENSSA board members to ensure that they are linked up to Facebook Immediate Tasks • Krystal and Kathleen to discuss the questionnaires this coming week • Krystal to email Manuel to begin design work on the T-­‐shirts and SENSSA logo Next Meeting Time: Place October 31, 2014 12:30 p.m. – 1:30 p.m. SENS Lounge, Kirk Hall Naomi Maina Recording Secretary Meeting adjourned at 1:23 pm
