Directed Individual Study (prerequisite: overall GPA of at least 2.00, junior or senior standing, and consent of instructor, department

Capstone Seminar (prerequisite: senior standing and a minimum of 21 SPN hours at 300 level and 3 SPN hours at the 400 level); students
will select a research paper from a previous class to develop into a final thesis project using appropriate research methods and editing
techniques. Students will give an oral defense of the paper. Satisfies University Studies VI: Common Requirements/Capstone Course.

Internship in Spanish (prerequisite: junior standing, completion of at least 12 hours of course work in SPN at the 300 or 400 level and
consent of instructor); University Studies: Explorations Beyond the Classroom
Honors Work in Spanish (prerequisite: eligibility for honors program and senior standing); University Studies: Explorations Beyond the
Classroom.
II. Applied Learning Requirement: This requirement can be met by completing 3 credits in one of the following: SPN 490, SPN 491, SPN 498, or
SPN 499; or 6 credits of study abroad in Spanish at the intermediate level or above; or EDN 409 for Teacher Licensure Students.
Further Explanation for Spanish Majors:
•
One 400-level course may be substituted for one of the required 300-level courses.
•

•
All classes, with the exception of SPN 491, 495 and 499 are for 3 hours of credit. SPN 491 and 495 may be taken for 1-3 credits. SPN 499
may be taken for 2-3 credits.
•
Only 3 credits total permissible in 491 and 498 to count toward the major
