Composition
1 ) ENG 100 (College Writing and Reading I, Global Emphasis)

Lifetime Wellness
1) PED 101 (Physical Activity and Wellness)
• UNCW’s PED 101 includes both Physical Activity and Wellness components that your course may not have
contained.
• This course can potentially be waived if you are over 55 years of age, or if you have military service that
included Basic Training.
Mathematics and Statistics
1) STT 210 (Intro to Statistics: Health Science Application), OR one of the following: STT 215, QMM 280
Foreign Language (Proficiency at 201 level or higher. You may have previous foreign language courses and/or high
school courses, but UNCW requires that you get to a certain proficiency level - not just a certain number of courses)

Aesthetic, Interpretive, and Literary Perspectives

Understanding Human Institutions and Behaviors
1) PSY 105 (Introductory Psychology)
2) ECN 125 (Survey of Economics), OR ECN 221, OR SOC 105
Writing Intensive and Information Literacy Competencies (3 hours each, in addition to the nursing curriculum)
• RN-BS students must have completed a satisfactory Writing Intensive course, or will need to take ENG 110.
This is the same course that is listed in the “Aesthetic, Interpretive, and Literary Perspectives” section.
• RN-BS students must have completed a satisfactory Information Literacy course, or will need to take ENG
200. This is the same course that is listed in the “Composition” section.
• Writing Intensive and Information Literacy courses must meet certain criteria to be approved.
