Some areas of study include accounting, education, biology, chemistry, law, Caribbean studies, geography, history, psychology, literature, mathematics, philosophy, sociology, sustainable development, physics, and technology. Housing UWI at Cave Hill offers housing both in on-campus residence halls as well as off-campus apartments. Most of the off-campus accommodations are located approximately five miles from campus. Public transportation is available to the university. Student Life Situated on forty-seven acres, UWI at Cave Hill overlooks the island’s capital and principal commercial center, Bridgetown, which is five miles away. The campus is located in the charming area of Cave Hill. Quiet, attractive residential developments surround the university and a five-minute stroll puts you on the beautiful St. James coast - one of the island’s main tourist zones where a number of beautiful beaches are located. Cost This program is available as a Study Abroad, which means you pay your tuition, fees, room and board directly abroad. There will be additional costs for international airfare, passport, health insurance and local transportation. Financial Aid & Scholarships Surrounding Areas Barbados is a relatively small island with a lot to see and do. There are beaches, mangrove swamps, cliffs, tide pools and areas where beds of low lying coral rock, sandstone, clay or shale reach out to the sea. In addition, there are numerous historical sites, such as Cannon Galore, Harrison’s Cave and the Baobab Tree, and an abundance of recreational activities, including kayaking, surfing, sailing, horseback riding and cricket. Map & Images Federal and state financial aid may be applied toward this program. Even if you are normally ineligible for financial aid, you should submit a financial aid application (FAFSA). You may find that you are eligible for additional funding. UNCW students may also apply for a UNCW Education Abroad Grant and additional study abroad scholarships.
