National Criminal Justice Honor
Society
ALPHA PHI SIGMA, the National Criminal Justice Honor Society, invites applications from
criminology majors and minors. Established in 1942, Alpha Phi Sigma is the nationally recognized honor
society for students in criminal justice. Today, Alpha Phi Sigma has over 280 chapters in colleges
nationwide. APS is affiliated with the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences and holds its annual meeting
in conjunction with the ACJS meeting.
Eligibility
To become a member, undergraduate students must have declared a major or minor in criminology,
completed three full-time semesters (at least 36 hours) toward graduation and be recommended by the
chapter advisor. Undergraduate students must maintain a minimum of a 3.2 GPA overall and a 3.2 GPA
in their criminology major/minor and have completed a minimum of four courses within the criminology
curriculum. Graduate students must be enrolled in a graduate program related to criminal justice, maintain
a minimum GPA of 3.4 and complete at least four courses within the related criminal justice curriculum.
Members of APS are considered life members. There is a $50.00 fee to join. APS members receive an
attractive pin and certificate suitable for framing.
Application must be submitted by February 13, 2015 for fall semester induction.
