Major developments are ongoing in order to mitigate the impacts of stormwater and ensure safe disposal, in the UK. Approaches such as Integrated Water Resource Management Model, Water Sensitive Urban Design, Sustainable Integrated Water Engineering, Water Management System, and Stormwater & Flood risk mitigating measures, when implemented within Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS) have together contributed to the safety of inhabitants. Mauritius can learn from the UK experience to work towards ensuring safety against flood events. Mr. Jassim Daureeawo is the company Director of Vortex Ltd. Jassim has specialised in Public Health Engineering and is currently involved in the Soceity of Public Health Engineers (SoPHE - UK). He sits on the Steering Committee of the Society. He is also leading the London Technical Committee and the R&D and Innovation subgroup within SoPHE.
