of teaching high school Social Studies.
Snyder received her Bachelor's degree in
Sociology and 6-12 Social Studies
certification from UNCW and then

dissertation, she is evaluating the lead mentoring program that exists in the
four traditional high schools in New Hanover County Schools. Snyder’s passion
lies in helping new and pre-service teachers. For the past four school years, she
has served as the lead mentor at her school in which she oversees the
mentoring program for all beginning teachers and their mentors. She has been
a partnership teacher and hosted Social Studies interns from UNCW for the past
five years. During the Fall semesters, Snyder teaches the Social Studies Methods
course at UNCW for students in their pre-internship semester. Through these
efforts, Snyder hopes to enhance the quality of teachers in our area. She was
recently named the 2016 Southeast Regional Teacher of the Year and is one of
nine finalists for the state title. For the next school year, she will be serving the
Southeast region in which she hopes to share her ideas and strategies to mentor
new and pre-service teachers to ensure they remain in the teaching profession.
