Courtney Alleborn Courtney Alleborn is a lifelong learner. A magna cum laude graduate of Stonehill College in Boston, Massachusetts, Courtney majored in both Elementary Education and the Spanish Language. Her high academic standings allowed her to travel to Zaragoza, Spain for independent study and teaching the English Language to middle and high school students. While there, Courtney developed the English Language Curriculum for the school, Sagrado Corazon de Jesus, along with all lesson plans and homework for multiple grade levels. In 2007 Courtney moved to Wilmington, North Carolina and began teaching Second Grade at Anderson Elementary School. While teaching full-time, she also began her Master’s Degree program at UNCW in Language and Literacy. As a graduate student at the Watson College of Education, Courtney was selected to travel to South Africa in 2009 to Port Elizabeth’s varying educational systems. She presented her Postcard Project unit at the 2011 North Carolina Reading Association’s Conference in Raleigh. Upon completion of her Master’s Degree, Courtney moved outside of the general education classroom and became Anderson Elementary’s Interventionist and RTI/MTSS Coordinator, her current position. Courtney is also the Site Coordinator for UNCW Student Interns and Field Experience Students, a Lead Mentor for Beginning Teachers, and was voted Teacher of the Year for the 2014-15 School Year. Courtney Alleborn was recently selected to be one of Watson College of Education’s 2015-18 Master Teachers and she is honored to be included amongst such an esteemed group of educators.
