Students Completing the Honors Seminar and Honors University
Studies Course Requirements
These students have completed a series of honors seminars and honors sections of university studies and are in good standing in the UNCW Honors College. To complete requirements for University Honors, each student will conduct a senior honors project, independent scholarly work in the major with one-on-one supervision from a faculty mentor. Today
we recognize students who completed these requirements in Spring 2015, Summer 2015,
or Fall 2015, plus upperclassmen who will complete in May 2016. Students receive an
Honors Scholars pin and certificate.

UNCW Distinguished Undergraduate Research Scholars
Several students have met the criteria for recognition as Distinguished Undergraduate
Research Scholars. Not only have these students completed the coursework to prepare
them to be researchers and scholars in their disciplines, they have also “taken the next
step” and presented or published their scholarly work for an off campus audience.
Recognition as a Distinguished Undergraduate Research Scholar reflects additional
achievements, such as peer-reviewed publications, funding, and awards.

The Wilmington Fellows program targets entering Honors students who make an early
commitment to maintain exceptional academic progress, engage in faculty-mentored
research or creative scholarship, develop leadership skills, pursue major international,
national and state scholarships, fellowships, internships, grants and awards, and apply to
post-baccalaureate graduate programs. The goal is to increase research engagement,
study abroad, national fellowship applications, and internships via dedicated mentoring.

UNCW CSURF Undergraduate Research Fellowships
The Center for the Support of Undergraduate Research and Fellowships (CSURF)
invites applications for the UNCW Undergraduate Research and Creativity Fellowships
competition each spring. The competition’s aim is to stimulate original research among
undergraduate students at UNCW. Each student must have a faculty sponsor who
serves as an advisor and assists in selecting a project. The student presents the proposal
to an interdisciplinary committee as a written paper and an interview. Fellowship winners receive a tuition stipend for the next academic year. Donor contributions make
