Council members attending: Drs. Berliner, Cilano, Fischetti, Furia, Gamble, Howe, Janicki, McNamee, Paarlberg, Taylor, Thomas
and Varadarajan. Also attending: Emily Beamon and Nancy Holland. Dean Roer presided.

Approval of minutes of March 31, 2011 approved

Announcements
Graduate Faculty Update: The following faculty have been approved since the last Graduate Council meeting.
College of Arts and Sciences
Mathematics and Statistics – Wei Feng, five year appointment
College of Health and Human Sciences
School of Health and Applied Human Sciences – James Herstine, five year appointment
Watson School of Education
Educational Leadership – Kennedy Ongaga, three year appointment
Graduate Research Faculty – Andrea Bourdelais, five year appointment
Graduate Council Realignment:
Based upon the decision of the Council to use an equal weighting of graduate faculty and graduate student
enrollment among the Senate voting divisions, the representation on the Council for 2011-12 will be:
Division I
Division II
Division III
Division IV
2 members
4 members
2 members
5 members (2 each from CSB and WSE, 1 from SON)
This represents a decrease of 1 member from Division I and an increase of 1 member from Division II.
Therefore, the expiring terms of Todd Berliner and Philip Furia will be filled by only one newly elected
member, and two members will be elected to fill the term vacated by Steve Kinsey.
