Raise about $10.5 M annually in private gift commitment. Roughly 8,800 gifts processed a year. UNCW has 65,044 living alumni with accurate contact information for roughly half of them. Only 5.4% of our alumni gave to UNCW last year. Recent Accomplishments • Adopted key performance targets in major and planned giving, annual giving, and alumni giving. • Prepared for the conversion to a new CRM tool (The Raiser’s Edge). • Successfully completed the first-ever 24-hour challenge raising 450% over goal. • Experienced unprecedented increases in alumni event attendance and engagement. • Launched the UNCW Society (annual giving society) and the Clocktower Society (consecutive giving society). • Generated new major gifts commitment in excess of $4.9M (up 53% over the 2012-2103 fiscal year). • Generated support in excess of $11.5 in gifts and commitments (up 19% over the 2012-2013 fiscal year). • Gifts receipted totaled $7.9M (up 41% over the 2012-2013 fiscal year). Planning for the Future Two main efforts in our recent past: • Comprehensive fundraising readiness assessment • Campaign strategy study process Results of the Readiness Assessment (Fall of 2012) • Over 44 recommendations made to become more effective and productive • All recommendations have been adopted and implemented Findings of the Campaign Strategy Study Process (Summer of 2013) • Leadership is very well regarded in the community and among top donors • The Soaring to Greatness Campaign is still top-of-mind for many prospects • UNCW has far fewer lead gift prospects needed to support a traditional campaign • A more clearly defined vision for athletics facilities needs to be developed • Philanthropic priorities that resonated with the widest variety of donors: merit and diversity scholarships, applied learning, and athletics Strengthening the Culture of Philanthropy at UNCW Within the Division for University Advancement On the UNCW Campus Among alumni, friends, parents, corporations and foundations So, why are we raising money? My favorite aspect about UNCW is the many hands-on experiences that are offered. I have found it really easy to talk to professors and get involved and that is wonderful. – Maddy ’18 I love the one-on-one relationships I get to build with my professors and the overall atmosphere on campus.
